Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY ONTARIO FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES!

I trust that all of you have had a pleasant summer and are getting ready to both launch your 2019-20 seasons and to start considering programming for 2020-21. With the latter thought in mind here are a few programming suggestions to pique your interest.

ONTARIO CONTACT SHOWCASES (SEPTEMBER 12/13/14)

I look forward to seeing many of you at the conference. BOBOLINK has two formal showcases this year, both on Friday morning, September 13th:

  • HEATHER BAMBRICK
The ebullient jazz vocalist will be touring with several exciting attractions her successful CANADIAN JAZZ ALL-STARS, with Guido Basso, Robi Botos, Dave Young, Mike Murley and David DiRenzo; FEATURED SOLOIST with the 18-member TORONTO JAZZ ORCHESTRA in a big band show; THE HEATHER BAMBRICK QUINTET; and the new BAMBRICK/BOTOS/PROZNICK TRIO.
  • JOHN SHEARD in REMEMBERING STUART
Stuart McLean’s long-time music director and a virtuoso pianist in his own right, regales his audience with stories of life on the road with the great Canadian storyteller. He is joined by several musicians that also toured with Stuart.

SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS FOR 2020-21

Here are just a few of the other attractions, some new, some old, that BOBOLINK is offering for next season.

  • ELMER ISELER SINGERS & ELORA SINGERS- For the first time ever, Ontario’s two great professional choirs, both celebrating their 40th anniversaries this year, are performing together. You have heard both superb ensembles on their own. Imagine the thrilling sound of 44 professional singers united in song.
  • RH THOMSON in A CHRISTMAS CAROL- The legendary star of stage, screen and television will be performing the script that Charles Dickens himself toured for many years. He will be joined by the amazing a cappella duo FreePlay and world champion fiddler Shane Cook.
  • UNFORGETTABLE: THE NAT KING COLE STORY featuring THOM ALLISON, ALANA BRIDGEWATER, DAVID WARRACK & RICHARD OUZOUNIAN-  This solid-gold tribute to the 100th birthday of the great black American pop singer was a huge success in its inaugural performances at Ontario summer festivals this year.
  • BECOMING DR. RUTH featuring LINDA KASH- The astonishing story of the celebrity sex therapist was a sellout success this past spring at Toronto’s Harold Green Jewish Theatre. The feisty doctor is indelibly impersonated by Second City comedienne Linda Kash.
  • MEN OF THE DEEPS- The legendary Cape Breton coal miners’ choir will be back in the Fall of 2020 by popular demand. We were unable to accommodate all of the interest in the group’s upcoming Xmas 2019 tour.

STILL AVAILABLE IN 2020-21!

  • O HAPPY DAY- BEN HEPPNER & TORONTO MASS CHOIR
  • PIANO SIX featuring DANIEL WNUKOWSKI
  • JOE TRIO
  • AND MORE!!
